The collecting box fulfils an important additional function: it is not only storage space for the shredded materials but it also forms a safety factor because it protects the discharge opening from access. Therefore, no-one can accidentally reach into the cutting mechanism from underneath while it is operating. If the box is removed, the unit switches off immediately. The long distance between the filling hopper and the blade mechanism forms an additional safety factor in the 2300 ESK.
